About Charlyce
Accomplished concert vocalist Charlyce Simmons loves to bring joy to people through her music. With a vocal range that melds classic R&B with contemporary jazz, Charlyce adds her own stylistic creativity to compositions by such chart-toppers as Anita Baker, Sade, Bill Withers, Luther Vandross and other legendary singers. She has wowed audiences at several Orlando-area venues, including Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, Jazz Tastings and Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts.
Charlyce performs a cappella, with recorded backup sound or with her talented band. The group includes two keyboardists, a drummer, bass and lead guitar players, saxophonist and backup singers. Together, she and the band deliver a classy, up-tempo performance that gets audiences up on their feet.
From the second she takes the mic until the final song, Charlyce gives everyone the best she’s got.
My Mission
Charlyce believes her mission in life is to not only uplift audiences’ spirits through her music but to encourage everyone within the sound of her extraordinary voice to live a whole, healthy and fulfilling life. Her passion for others’ wellbeing is fueled by a lifetime of serious health challenges she has faced with perseverance and faith.
Charlyce was diagnosed with renal failure at the age of 16, and started dialysis while still attending high school. At age 19, Charlyce underwent a life-saving kidney transplant, an experience that strengthened her devotion to Christ and inspired her to share her story and encourage people to give the ultimate gifts of life —organ donations.
10 years later, Charlyce’s health took a sudden turn for the worse when she suffered a stroke while driving. Miraculously, she didn’t lose control of her car and was able to drive to a hospital. Paralyzed on the left side of her body, Charlyce faced living the life of an invalid. But through sheer determination and an unwavering faith in Christ, Charlyce eventually recovered. This was a defining moment for her: She must live her life with purpose and passion.
And she is doing that through her singing and motivational speaking while undergoing dialysis 3 days a week after the donated kidney that had sustained her for 20 years failed. Recently, on May 10, 2023 Charlyce received the call to receive a new donor kidney. The surgery was a success, and she stays focused on sharing her music and life’s story in the hope of inspiring people to take care of their health and the health of others.
Charlyce Simmons is now the founder of a non-profit Michal’s Hope Inc that provides assistance and resources to patients who are going through Kidney Failure, and transplant patients.
